Death at drug rehabilitation center in Noida: NHRC seeks UP govt response
The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has sought the response from the Uttar Pradesh government on the death of a 37-year-old person at a drug rehabilitation centre in Sector 112, Noida.
The commission has observed that the contents of the media report, if true, amount to a violation of human rights of the victim.
Accordingly, it has issued notices to the Uttar Pradesh Chief Secretary and the Director General of Police calling for a detailed report including the present status of the investigation of the case and compensation of relief, if any, provided to the next of kin of the deceased by the government authorities.
Reportedly, the victim was admitted to the rehabilitation centre on 6th March, 2023. However, on March 9, 2023, the family received a phone call from the centre stating that the victim had fainted due to an epileptic fit, and later, the dead body was sent home in an ambulance.
