AIIMS starts initiatives to ease implementation of Ayushman Bharat scheme

The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Delhi, has taken a series of initiatives to ease the implementation of the Ayushman Bharat scheme. This initiative is part of promoting the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB PM-JAY) as a part of the government’s 'Ayushman Bhav' Campaign.

AIIMS said that to ensure seamless registration and access to AB PM-JAY benefits, Ayushman Mitras will be stationed at patient admission counters.

Ayushman Mitra's role will involve capturing relevant details of patients admitted to general wards or daycare units and proactively confirming their AB PM-JAY coverage status.

They will also visit admitted patients in their respective wards to inform them of their beneficiary status and assist them in availing themselves of the benefits of the AB PM-JAY scheme.

AIIMS stated that monthly training and sensitising sessions will be organised for all faculty and residents at AIIMS New Delhi. These sessions seek to raise awareness about AB PM-JAY, ABHA ID, and related components among health workers.

Using ABHA ID as a unique identifier will be actively promoted, and ABHA IDs will be generated for all patients visiting AIIMS New Delhi. This initiative aims to streamline patient identification and ensure efficient healthcare services.

AIIMS said that it will use informative videos played in outpatient and inpatient areas, along with prominently displayed educational posters, to empower patients with valuable information about the AB PM-JAY scheme, its process flow, and the services available at the hospital. This initiative aims to ensure that all visiting patients are well-informed about the benefits and procedures of the Ayushman Bharat Scheme.

Various AIIMS centres, including the Main Hospital Blood Bank, CN Centre Blood Bank, JPNATC Trauma Centre Blood Bank, and NCI Jhajjar Blood Bank, will conduct monthly in-house and outreach blood donation camps. Additionally, awareness activities for organ donation will be intensified in clinical care areas and waiting rooms at AIIMS New Delhi to encourage more individuals to pledge for organ donation.

"The successful implementation of these initiatives will contribute significantly to the 'Ayushman Bhav' campaign's goal of extending healthcare services to every corner of the country,” AIIMS said.
