Questions Emerge Over Junior Doctor’s Death as CBI Investigates Autopsy Circumstances

The junior doctor's murder and rape at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital have left many wondering and worried. More information on the post-mortem procedures, possible outside influence, and investigative mistakes is emerging as the CBI continues to probe the case. Casting a cloud over the entire inquiry are the enigmatic circumstances surrounding the case and the CBI's emphasis on key persons.

The CBI has called in the college's medical examiner, Dr. Apurba Biswas, who oversaw the student's postmortem, for questioning. Two other doctors, including Apurba, conducted the autopsy in questionable conditions. After his questioning ended at the CBI's CGO building, Apurba informed reporters that a man posing as the uncle of the dead student and a former councillor had pressured him to do something. On that fateful day, Apurba declared, "If the post-mortem does not happen soon, I will shed blood."

The forensic specialists of the CBI are looking into the reasons for the uncommon practice of conducting the autopsy after sunset, which calls into question the reliability of the process. Investigators reportedly incinerated the body soon after the autopsy to avoid the possibility of a second postmortem investigators are currently investigating why they might not have collected crucial forensic evidence appropriately and whether Apurba received any instructions before or during the autopsy.

The existence of outside influences is a crucial matter for the investigating team. Dr Apurba's comments about the threat raise serious suspicions about influence in the post-mortem process. Important individuals like Sandeep, a suspect in the rape and murder case, further complicate the issue. We are investigating the close relationship between Apurba and Sandeep to determine if it influenced or filled in any gaps during the autopsy.

The CBI has questioned Sourav Pal, a junior doctor at RG Kar, and Birupaksha Biswas, a former resident doctor. Both individuals were present at the hospital during the incident, and their testimony could shed light on the lack of forensic samples from the crime scene and the packed seminar hall.

Authorities are now looking closely at the actions of the initial investigating officer and the hospital administration. Rumour has it that the investigation had a few slip-ups, such as not getting the CCTV footage or properly handling the forensic evidence before or after the incident. Additionally, the Tala police department questioned sub-inspector Chinmoy Biswas, who was present at the hospital during the incident. We are closely scrutinising his participation and that of former Tala OC Abhijit Mondal, who is currently in CBI custody, to fill in the gaps in the investigation and piece together the timeline of events.

CBI agents not only interviewed relevant parties as part of their investigation but also combed through RG Kar Medical College's administrative building for relevant paperwork. Further enquiries regarding Sandeep's possible role in the events that led to the junior doctor's death have led investigators to focus on his workplace.

Meanwhile, junior doctors from RG Kar Medical College, who are outraged by the incident have spearheaded protests and demands for justice for their colleague. The doctors' 44-day strike is a demand for justice in the homicide and rape cases. Even as junior doctors continue their protests in various forms, they are also providing medical treatment to flood-affected villages, and in State’s Sagar Dutta Medical College, they were seen running an "Abhaya Clinic," even on Sunday.

Free dental, orthopaedic, and chest treatments, as well as free glucose testing and medications, were among the many free medical services delivered on Sunday by junior doctors at Sagar Dutta Medical College. The "Abhaya Clinic" movement, which combines public service with protest actions, powerfully symbolises their quest for justice.

The CBI continues its investigation into the junior doctor's death without addressing crucial concerns. For what reason did someone else was in a hurry to complete the autopsy? Could this have might led to overlooking any crucial evidence? What part did important people play, such as the investigating officers? Justice for the late doctor and a return to faith in medicine depend on the CBI's investigations into the allegations.
