Fighting Cancer with Awareness: Action Cancer Hospital Marks World Cancer Day with Hope and Inspiration

With cancer cases rising at an alarming rate in India, Action Cancer Hospital observed World Cancer Day with a powerful awareness program aimed at educating people about early detection and treatment. Held on February 4 in the hospital’s OPD area in Paschim Vihar, the event brought together top oncologists, medical experts, and cancer survivors—each with a shared mission: to spread awareness, inspire hope, and reinforce the importance of timely intervention.

According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), cancer cases in India are expected to rise by 12.8% by 2025, making awareness campaigns like these more crucial than ever. Addressing the gathering, Dr. Sanjeev Gupta, Medical Director of Action Cancer Hospital, stressed that the increasing prevalence of cancer calls for urgent action. “The key to fighting cancer lies in early detection. Recognizing the symptoms and seeking medical attention in time can make all the difference,” he stated.

Spotting the Signs: A Matter of Life and Death

Dr. Shruti Bhatia, Principal Consultant in Gynae Oncology, urged people to be vigilant about their health and not ignore potential warning signs. She listed unexplained weight loss, persistent cough, digestive issues, extreme fatigue, and changes in skin color as some of the key red flags that should never be overlooked.

Backing this, Dr. Manoj Kumar Sharma, Director of Radiation Oncology, emphasized that while modern medical advancements have improved cancer treatment, timely diagnosis remains the most effective weapon in the fight against the disease.

Meanwhile, Dr. Samit Purohit, Director of Medical Oncology, reassured attendees that a cancer diagnosis is not a death sentence. “There is no need to panic. Knowledge is power, and awareness is the first step toward survival,” he remarked.

Stories of Strength: Cancer Survivors Inspire Hope

One of the most moving moments of the event came when cancer survivors took the stage to share their battles with the disease. Their emotional testimonies highlighted the strength, resilience, and unwavering spirit required to overcome cancer.

Dr. J.B. Sharma, Director of Medical Oncology, applauded their courage, stating, “Their stories serve as a beacon of hope for others battling this disease. At Action Cancer Hospital, we are committed to providing world-class care and support for every patient.”

The Road Ahead: Spreading Awareness, Saving Lives

The event also highlighted recent breakthroughs in cancer treatment, reinforcing the role of medical advancements in improving survival rates. Experts stressed that while hospitals and doctors play a crucial role, public awareness is equally essential in reducing the burden of cancer.
