Fortis Shalimar Bagh Hosts Equality Walkathon to Celebrate Women’s Day
After the walkathon, the hospital hosted a Women’s Empowerment Program, where experts and leaders came together to talk about women’s health, workplace equality, and inclusive growth. The Hon’ble Chief Minister of Delhi, Smt. Rekha Gupta, graced the event as the chief guest and spoke passionately about building a healthier, more inclusive society.
"Delhi should be the best place for healthcare, where no one is denied the right treatment," she said. She also emphasized the importance of educating and empowering girls, saying, "When we educate our daughters, we don’t just secure their future—we uplift entire families and communities."
Her words resonated with many in the audience, reminding everyone that women are the backbone of society, excelling in healthcare, education, business, and public service—yet they often put their own health last.
Fortis Healthcare’s MD & CEO, Dr. Ashutosh Raghuvanshi, acknowledged the invaluable contributions of women in healthcare but pointed out that many still face challenges.
"Women bring empathy, expertise, and innovation to patient care, but they also face unique health risks and workplace barriers. At Fortis, we are committed to creating a space where women can lead, excel, and thrive," he said.
Mr. Deepak Narang, Facility Director, Fortis Hospital Shalimar Bagh, echoed the same thought, emphasizing that women should be seen not just as caregivers but as leaders and decision-makers in healthcare.
"When we support women, we uplift entire communities. It’s time we ensure they get the same opportunities and respect they deserve," he added.
For those who participated, the walkathon was more than just a morning exercise—it was a call for action. It reminded everyone that true equality is about shared responsibilities and mutual respect.
As the sun rose over Shalimar Bagh, the message was clear: Gender equality isn’t just about celebrating women once a year—it’s about making everyday choices that build a more inclusive future.
Let’s not just walk for change; let’s live it.
