Lilavati Hospital & Rotary Club Organize Free Mega Health Camp for Women on Women’s Day

In a significant initiative for women's health, Lilavati Hospital & Research Centre, in collaboration with the Rotary Club of Mumbai Western Elite, organized a free medical camp dedicated to empowering women through preventive healthcare. The event, held on Women’s Day, followed the theme “Of the Women, By the Women, For the Women” and aimed to raise awareness about the importance of regular health check-ups.

A Comprehensive Health Initiative

The camp provided free medical consultations across multiple specialties, including General Medicine, Cardiology, Gynaecology, Obstetrics, Dermatology, Orthopedics, Chest Medicine, ENT, Ophthalmology, and Dental care. In addition, attendees received free medications as prescribed and had access to an onsite ambulance service for emergency assistance.

Over 1,000 women from underprivileged communities benefitted from free diagnostic tests such as full-body check-ups, breast scans, blood pressure monitoring, blood sugar tests, ECGs, lung function tests (PFT), Pap smears, bone density scans, audiology tests, and anemia screenings.

Addressing Women’s Health Challenges

Women’s health often takes a backseat due to social and familial responsibilities, leading to undiagnosed conditions such as anemia, osteoporosis, cardiovascular diseases, reproductive health issues, and hormonal disorders. Early detection and preventive screenings play a crucial role in reducing the risk of chronic illnesses and improving overall well-being. This medical camp aimed to bridge the healthcare gap by ensuring women receive the medical attention they deserve.

Voices Behind the Initiative

Vinay Khetawat, Club President of the Rotary Club of Mumbai Western Elite, highlighted the significance of the initiative:

"This Mega Medical Camp, 'Of the Women, By the Women, For the Women,' was a tribute to those who selflessly care for others while often neglecting their own health. It is a reflection of Rotary’s commitment to providing essential healthcare services to the underprivileged."

Mr. Prashant Mehta, Permanent Trustee at Lilavati Hospital, emphasized the hospital’s dedication to women’s healthcare:

"At Lilavati Hospital, we prioritize proactive healthcare measures, ensuring that women receive timely screenings and expert consultations. Through this initiative, we aim to empower women with the knowledge and resources necessary to take charge of their health. Extending medical support to underprivileged women is crucial in bridging the gap in healthcare accessibility."

Timely Medical Intervention

The impact of the camp was evident when a case of myocardial infarction (MI) was identified during a routine check-up. Dr. Rohit Deshpande, Internal Medicine at Lilavati Hospital, provided immediate treatment, and the patient was swiftly transported via the hospital’s ambulance to a medical facility for further care.

Dr. Niraj Uttamani, Chief Operating Officer of Lilavati Hospital, underscored the importance of such initiatives:

"By offering accessible and quality healthcare, we aim to raise awareness about preventive screenings and early diagnosis. This initiative not only provides essential medical services but also ensures life-saving interventions when needed."

A Step Towards Women’s Health Empowerment

The free health camp organized by Lilavati Hospital and the Rotary Club of Mumbai Western Elite marks a crucial step in advocating for women's health. By offering high-quality medical care, early detection screenings, and necessary treatments, this initiative strengthens the commitment to ensuring that women, especially from underprivileged backgrounds, receive the healthcare they deserve.
