Hundreds of Indian students explore medical education opportunities at top Russian institution
The 26th Russian Education Fair 2025, held at the Russian House in New Delhi on Saturday, turned the spotlight on Orenburg State Medical University (OrSMU) as one of the leading destinations for Indian students seeking quality and affordable medical education abroad.
Organized by the Russian House in New Delhi in association with Rus Education, the fair brought together aspiring students and parents from across the capital, eager to explore academic opportunities in Russia. Among the various participating institutions, Orenburg State Medical University stood out for its long-standing reputation, high academic standards, and popularity among Indian medical aspirants.
Orenburg State Medical University: A Top Choice for Indian Students
Founded in 1944, OrSMU is a government medical university recognized by the National Medical Commission (NMC) of India, World Health Organization (WHO), and several other global medical bodies. With thousands of Indian students already enrolled and hundreds successfully practicing across India and abroad, the university has become a trusted name in international medical education.
At the fair, representatives from OrSMU provided detailed guidance on the MBBS program, eligibility criteria, admission process, medium of instruction (English), and support services for Indian students. The university also showcased its modern infrastructure, advanced laboratories, skilled faculty, and well-equipped hostels, all tailored to create a safe and productive environment for foreign students.
“Our university is committed to offering not just world-class medical education, but also a welcoming and culturally supportive atmosphere for Indian students,” said an OrSMU delegate. “From Indian food options to student societies and academic mentoring, everything is designed to help them succeed.”
Growing Popularity of Russian Medical Education
With rising competition and limited medical seats in India, Russia—particularly institutions like Orenburg—has become a preferred choice for thousands of Indian MBBS aspirants. The affordable fee structure, no requirement for entrance exams like NEET for admission (though NEET qualification is necessary for license in India), and internationally recognized degrees add to its appeal.
Dr. Elena Remizova, Director of the Russian House in New Delhi, emphasized the role of such collaborations in strengthening Indo-Russian ties. “Education remains one of the most vibrant bridges between our nations. Institutions like Orenburg State Medical University are not only offering excellent education but also nurturing the next generation of global medical professionals.”
Nationwide Reach of the Russian Education Fair
The Russian Education Fair 2025 is being held across nine Indian cities, including Mumbai, Trivandrum, Kolkata, Patna, Ahmedabad, Indore, Chandigarh, and Jaipur, to cater to the growing demand for international education—particularly in medicine.
As the fair continues its journey across India, Orenburg State Medical University remains at the forefront of attracting Indian students, reinforcing its position as a top-tier destination for aspiring doctors.
