‘Yog Samavesh’ Launched at Safdarjung Hospital to Support Maternal Wellness Ahead of International Yoga Day 2025

In celebration of the upcoming International Day of Yoga 2025, Devayaa, a non-profit dedicated to the welfare of women and children, has launched “Yog Samavesh,” a 10-day prenatal yoga program at VMMC & Safdarjung Hospital. This unique initiative, which commenced today, aims to integrate the time-tested benefits of yoga with modern maternal healthcare for pregnant women, offering a holistic approach to physical and emotional well-being during pregnancy.

The launch aligns with the spirit of the International Day of Yoga, initiated in 2015 under the leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Now in its 11th year, the global observance continues to spotlight yoga’s universal benefits for mind, body, and soul. “Yog Samavesh” is tailored specifically for expectant mothers, and reflects this year’s yoga day theme by combining traditional practices with evidence-based medical guidance.

Dr. Manisha Joshi, Founder of Devayaa, highlighted the significance of the program, saying, “We are delighted to launch Yog Samavesh at VMMC & Safdarjung Hospital as part of the International Day of Yoga 2025. This marks a major milestone in our ongoing commitment to maternal health. Pregnancy is a transformative journey, and this initiative empowers women through yoga to build physical strength, attain mental peace, and maintain emotional balance. We are proud to blend the ancient wisdom of yoga with today’s medical practices in a trusted healthcare environment.”

Dr. Sandeep Bansal, Medical Superintendent of VMMC & Safdarjung Hospital, praised the initiative and emphasized its broader significance. “We are honored to collaborate with Devayaa for this meaningful celebration of International Day of Yoga 2025. As a leading public healthcare institution, we recognize the importance of integrating traditional wellness methods such as yoga into modern maternal care. This initiative sets a precedent for how yoga can be safely and effectively practiced under expert medical supervision, especially in a public hospital setting.”

The “Yog Samavesh” program is being conducted under the guidance of trained yoga experts and experienced medical professionals, ensuring that expectant mothers receive safe, holistic support throughout the sessions. With yoga’s growing recognition as a preventive and therapeutic tool in global healthcare, this initiative is seen as a model for other public institutions seeking to promote wellness among women during pregnancy.

As the world prepares to celebrate the 11th International Day of Yoga, the launch of Yog Samavesh reflects India’s continued leadership in promoting yoga as a powerful tool for physical and mental well-being, especially among vulnerable populations such as expectant mothers.
