As the country observes Doctor’s Day, Dr. Diwakar, Director of the Delhi State Cancer Institute (DSCI), shared a heartfelt tribute to the doctors and nurses who go beyond medicine to heal patients with compassion and care.

“I congratulate all the doctors and nurses of my institute,” Dr. Diwakar said. “A doctor’s job is not just to treat the disease—it’s also to motivate and encourage the patient to keep fighting.”

Speaking about the emotional side of healthcare, he emphasized that being sensitive and kind during treatment can make a big difference in how patients respond. “When a doctor shows care and understanding, it gives the patient strength to fight the illness,” he said.

Dr. Diwakar shared that many patients have told him they feel half their illness goes away just because the doctor speaks to them kindly or offers words of encouragement. “We must understand the emotional side of a patient,” he added. “Sometimes, a few kind words can heal more than medicine.”

On this Doctor’s Day, his message serves as a beautiful reminder that while medicines treat the body, compassion treats the soul. Doctors, through both skill and sensitivity, bring hope to people when they need it most.
