Delhi University’s SOL Announces Two Big Events on Online Learning and Women’s Health
The School of Open Learning (SOL) at Delhi University has kicked off preparations for two important upcoming events — one about new ways of learning in the digital age, and another about the often-ignored topic of infertility in women.
At a special curtain raiser event, the University brought together top leaders, professors, and guests from India and abroad. The event was led by the Vice Chancellor of Delhi University, Prof. Yogesh Singh, who shared his thoughts on how education is changing.
He said that because students today have shorter attention spans, teachers must find new and creative ways to teach. He also spoke about how SOL is helping adults continue their education, especially those who couldn’t study earlier in life.
“Teaching is not just a job. It’s a responsibility. And SOL is doing something special by reaching out to learners of all ages,” he said.
One of the main events announced is the International Conference on Emerging Trends and Challenges in Open, Distance, Digital and Blended Learning (ODDBL).
This will be held from January 29 to 31, 2026. It will be the first major conference on online and digital learning since the COVID-19 pandemic.
It will give teachers, researchers, and experts a chance to talk about what’s working in the digital classroom and what still needs to improve.
The second event is the International Workshop on “Women and Infertility: Biosocial Dimensions in the Indian Context”, which will take place on August 21–22, 2025.
This workshop is being organized by the Women’s Studies and Development Centre (WSDC) and will focus on the biological and social aspects of infertility.
Prof. Chakraverti Mahajan, the Organizing Secretary of the workshop, said that infertility is not just a health issue—it also affects how women feel and how society treats them.
He called for doctors and social scientists to work together to support women facing this problem.
Prof. Payal Mago, Director of the Campus of Open Learning, said that SOL is committed to bringing education to those who are often left behind—especially people from poor or remote areas.
She added that both events are important because they focus on real problems in today’s world—how we learn, and how we support women’s health.
Other professors and experts who joined the event included Prof. Ajay Jaiswal, Principal of SOL; Prof. Pramod Tiwari, Joint Director of the Campus of Open Learning; Prof. Suman Sharma and Prof. K. N. Saraswathy from WSDC; and Prof. C.R.K. Murthy, a well-known expert in open and distance learning.
With this curtain raiser, registration for the international conference on digital learning is now open for people from India and abroad.
Both events aim to bring people together to share ideas, support each other, and create positive change in education and health.
