FORDA Celebrates Doctors’ Day 2025 at BSA Hospital, Calls for Stronger Support to Medical Fraternity
Doctors’ Day 2025 was marked with pride and purpose at Dr. Baba Saheb Ambedkar Medical College & Hospital (BSAH), Rohini, where the Federation of Resident Doctors’ Association (FORDA) organised a special event to honour doctors and celebrate 50 years of India’s Residency Scheme — a pillar of medical services in the country.
The event brought together resident doctors, senior faculty members, and several important guests including Delhi Health Minister Dr. Pankaj Kumar Singh, Rithala MLA Sh. Kulwant Rana, and senior physician and former MLA Dr. S.C.L. Gupta.
FORDA, which has long been the voice of resident doctors across India, used the occasion to not only pay tribute to doctors’ hard work but also highlight the challenges they continue to face.
Dr. Pankaj Solanki from FORDA spoke about the incredible journey of resident doctors and how they have been the backbone of the healthcare system — especially during tough times like the COVID-19 pandemic.
He also appreciated the Health Minister for bringing positive changes in a short span and being open to the concerns of young doctors.
One of the key moments of the event was when the Medical Superintendent of BSAH, Dr. Suresh Kumar, requested an expansion of the hospital and medical college campus. MLA Kulwant Rana immediately promised full support for this much-needed step.
Health Minister Dr. Pankaj Kumar Singh admitted that Delhi’s healthcare system had suffered from years of neglect and called the past 11 years without major investment a real “disaster.” However, he assured everyone that things are now changing.
He promised that more ICU beds will soon be added to government hospitals to handle patient loads better. Dr. S.C.L. Gupta suggested that real-time online data of available hospital beds should be made public so that patients and families can access care without unnecessary delays.
The Health Minister agreed on the spot and promised to take action. To make the day even more special, a powerful short film was shown, capturing the journey of Indian doctors — from fighting smallpox and polio to bravely taking on the COVID crisis.
It was an emotional reminder of how doctors have always stood at the frontlines during health emergencies. All guests at the event praised the efforts of doctors and assured them of continued support.
The celebration ended with smiles, applause, and a strong message: that the country’s doctors — especially resident doctors — deserve respect, recognition, and better working conditions.
FORDA, through this event, once again reminded everyone that while doctors care for us, it’s time we care for them too.
