The Department of Anatomy at AIIMS, New Delhi, on Saturday kicked off the AnatEd Summit 2026, a national symposium focused on transforming the way anatomy is taught, learned and assessed in medical colleges. The event has brought together leading anatomists, medical educators and health professions education experts from India and abroad to discuss innovative approaches that can make anatomy education more relevant in the era of Competency-Based Medical Education (CBME).

The summit explored how medical education is changing and why anatomy teaching must evolve to meet the needs of future doctors. Delivering keynote and plenary lectures, eminent national and international experts shared practical ideas on improving classroom teaching, strengthening assessment methods and promoting evidence-based educational practices to enhance student learning.

Providing an update on the event, Organising Secretary Dr Arthi G said the scientific sessions focused on the changing role of preclinical sciences, educational research and innovative teaching strategies that can better prepare medical students for clinical practice.

The afternoon sessions witnessed lively discussions and active participation from delegates. A debate on the current assessment system in anatomy under the CBME curriculum sparked insightful exchanges, while panel discussions explored effective ways to engage Generation Z learners and successfully implement curriculum reforms in classrooms.

One of the major attractions of the summit was the live demonstration of artificial intelligence-powered tools and other emerging technologies that are reshaping undergraduate anatomy education. The sessions highlighted how digital innovations can make learning more interactive, engaging and effective for students.

Faculty members, postgraduate students and medical education enthusiasts from institutions across the country are participating in the symposium, reflecting the growing interest in modernising anatomy education and improving the quality of medical training in India.
