Delhi Medical Association Marks Doctors' Day 2026 with Grand Celebration, Honours Healthcare Icons
Over 500 doctors, renowned medical experts and healthcare leaders come together in New Delhi to celebrate excellence in medicine
The Delhi Medical Association (DMA) celebrated Doctors' Day 2026 with grandeur and enthusiasm at Hotel Le Meridien on July 5, bringing together more than 500 doctors and healthcare professionals from across Delhi-NCR. The event turned into a memorable gathering of the medical fraternity, highlighting the profession's commitment to patient care, medical excellence, and lifelong learning.
The celebration witnessed an impressive turnout of senior doctors, specialists, academicians, and young medical professionals, reflecting the unity and growing strength of the Delhi Medical Association.
One of the biggest attractions of the event was its scientific programme, where some of the country's leading medical experts shared the latest developments in healthcare, evidence-based treatment approaches, and practical clinical experiences. The academic sessions offered valuable learning opportunities and kept delegates updated with recent advances in medicine.
The occasion was made even more special by the presence of several distinguished medical leaders, including Dr. Vinay Aggarwal, Past National President of the Indian Medical Association (IMA) and former President of DMA, along with Dr. Anil Goyal, MLA from Krishna Nagar and former DMA President. Former presidents, office bearers, and representatives from various DMA branches also attended the event, adding prestige to the celebration.
A major highlight of the programme was the felicitation ceremony, where more than ten eminent doctors were honoured with the prestigious DMA Healthcare Legend Award for their exceptional contributions to healthcare, medical education, research, and society. Among the awardees were Dr. Harsh Mahajan, Dr. Malvika Sabharwal, Dr. Neelam Mohan, Dr. D. S. Rana, Dr. Sharda Jain, Dr. Anil Arora, Dr. Sanjeev Gulati, Dr. Praveen Bhatia, and Dr. Sanjay Chaudhary.
The association also honoured nearly 40 leading doctors with the DMA Chikitsa Gaurav Samman, recognising their professional excellence, dedicated patient care, and outstanding service to the community. The awards celebrated the remarkable achievements of doctors who have made a lasting impact in their respective fields.
Speaking on the occasion, DMA President Dr. Neelam Lekhi expressed gratitude to everyone who contributed to the success of the event. She thanked the organising committee, including HSS Dr. Vipender Sabherwal, HFS Dr. Raminder Popli, President-Elect Dr. S. K. Poddar, Past President Dr. Ajay Lekhi, Senior Vice Presidents Dr. Jagdeep Chugh, Dr. A. S. Popli and Dr. Amarpreet Riar, as well as Doctors' Day Chairpersons Dr. Shama Batra and Dr. Sanjay Sood, for their dedicated efforts in planning and executing the programme.
Dr. Lekhi also acknowledged the contributions of the organising team, DMA staff, delegates, faculty members, awardees, trade partners, and association members, whose collective efforts ensured the smooth conduct of the event.
Describing the celebration as more than just an annual function, Dr. Lekhi said Doctors' Day 2026 served as a tribute to the knowledge, compassion, dedication, and selfless service of the medical fraternity. She added that the event not only honoured outstanding doctors but also strengthened the spirit of togetherness within the healthcare community, making it a memorable milestone in the history of the Delhi Medical Association.
