What could be more heartbreaking for any couple—especially for doctors who dedicate their lives to saving others—than learning that their twin babies have died inside the womb, just when they were preparing to welcome them into the world?

Yet, in the face of unimaginable grief, this doctor couple chose courage over sorrow and compassion over despair. 

In a deeply moving act of humanity, Dr. Neeraj and Dr. Divya, both medical professionals, decided to donate their twin fetuses to Lady Hardinge Medical College, Delhi, to advance medical education and research.

It may be noted that this is the first-ever twin fetal donation in the history of Lady Hardinge Medical College, marking a historic milestone in India’s medical fraternity.

Dr. Neeraj, a pediatrician at ESI Hospital, Noida, and his wife Dr. Divya (35), who also consults at Jaipur Golden Hospital, suffered the tragic loss of their twins at five months of pregnancy. But even in this painful moment, their selfless decision transformed personal tragedy into a gift of hope for medical science.

At around 8 p.m on October 9, 2025, the family reached out to Mr. GP Tayal (Coordinator, North Zone) of Dadhichi Deh Dan Samiti (DDDS) for the donation.

Mr. Tayal then contacted Mr. Sudhir Gupta (Vice President), and both immediately began swift and compassionate coordination between DDDS and Lady Hardinge Medical College.

After hours of communication and meticulous documentation, the donation was successfully completed on the night of October 10 — etching a new chapter in the institution’s legacy.

Praising the couple’s extraordinary act, Mr. Sudhir Gupta, Vice President of DDDS, said, “Dr. Neeraj and Dr. Divya have set a remarkable example of humanity. At a time of profound personal loss, they chose to think of the larger good — of students, researchers, and future patients. Their act reminds us that true doctors not only heal the living but also contribute selflessly to the progress of medicine, even in moments of deep sorrow.”

Medical experts have hailed the gesture as a milestone in medical education, calling it a rare act of selflessness and service to humanity.
