Omeprazole Magnesium with Beta Cyclodextrin is a combination medication that includes Omeprazole, a proton pump inhibitor (PPI), and Beta Cyclodextrin, a pharmaceutical excipient. This combination is used to treat conditions related to excess stomach acid.

Indications

-Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD): Effective in the management of GERD, which includes heartburn and acid reflux. -Peptic Ulcers: Used for the healing of peptic ulcers and prevention of their recurrence. -Erosive Esophagitis: Treats inflammation and damage to the esophagus caused by stomach acid. In the treatment of conditions where a reduction of gastric acid secretion is required, such as: duodenal ulcer; gastric ulcer, NSAID-associated gastric and duodenal ulcers; reflux esophagitis; Symptomatic GERD, i.e., heartburn and regurgitation, Zollinger-Ellison syndrome (pathological hypersecretory condition); eradcation of H.pylori.


Dosage

-Dosage depends on the specific condition being treated. It is typically taken orally before meals. The dosage may vary for different individuals and the severity of the condition. -Duodenal Ulcer : 1-2 tablets/day for 4 weeks Maintenance Dose 1 tablet OD. Gastric Ulcer; 1-2 tablets/day for 8 weeks Maintenance Dose 1 tablet OD. Reflux Esophatitis; 1-2 tablet/day for 4-12 weeks. Maintenance Dose 1 tablet OD. NSAIDs induced Gastritis; 1 tablet/day along with NSAID. Non Ulcer Dyspepsia; 1 tab/day for 2-4 weeks.


Contra-Indications

-Hypersensitivity: Avoid in patients with known hypersensitivity to omeprazole, beta cyclodextrin, or other proton pump inhibitors. -Concurrent Use with Certain Medications: Caution is advised when combining with medications that may interact negatively with omeprazole.


Special Precautions

-Liver Disease: Adjustments in dosage may be necessary for patients with severe liver disease. -Long-Term Use: Prolonged use may increase the risk of certain side effects; periodic monitoring is recommended.


Side Effects

Common side effects may include headache, nausea, and gastrointestinal disturbances. Serious side effects are rare but may include severe allergic reactions or changes in bone health with long-term use.


Drug Interactions

-Warfarin: May enhance the anticoagulant effect of warfarin. -Clopidogrel: Interaction with clopidogrel may reduce its effectiveness.
