Patients needing dialysis will now get affordable dialysis at Mangal Murti Hospital in Borivali, Mumbai. The Hemodialysis Center was inaugurated by Dr Yogesh Dube and Dr Suchit Mahale under The Renal Project on May 7, 2019.

The objective of opening the affordable dialysis center is to provide dialysis to poor patients.

Mr Shashank Moddhia, Founder, The Renal Project, said:"Here dialysis costs Rs 1,250 whereas the same treatment in a private hospital costs around Rs 2,000- Rs 2,500. The inauguration is the first step towards building a chain of dialysis centres exactly where they are needed so that ailing and ageing patients do not have to travel long distances for treatment.”

Moddhia added, “We plan to open around 100 such centres in small pockets of districts such as Palghar, Dahanu, Buldhana, Canacona (in Goa) among others across the country. The goal is to reach maximum number of people in need with the treatment at minimum rates".

Dialysis is the process of removing excess water, solutes, and toxins from the blood in people whose kidneys can no longer perform these functions naturally.  Over two lakh new patients need dialysis treatment every year in India.
