Abacavir Sulphate and Lamivudine
Abacavir Sulphate and Lamivudine is a combination medication used in the treatment of HIV infection. It belongs to a class of drugs known as nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors (NRTIs). This combination works by reducing the amount of HIV in the blood, improving the immune system, and preventing HIV-related complications.Treatment of HIV-1 infection in adults and pediatric patients weighing at least 25 kg.

-Hypersensitivity to abacavir, lamivudine, or any component of the formulation. -Patients with hepatic impairment.
-Prior screening for HLA-B*5701 allele to reduce risk of hypersensitivity reaction to abacavir. -Lactic acidosis and severe hepatomegaly with steatosis have been reported with NRTIs.
Common side effects include nausea, vomiting, headache, and fatigue.
Concomitant use with other medications that affect renal function or are metabolized via the same pathway should be monitored closely.
