Armodafinil
Armodafinil is a wakefulness-promoting agent used primarily to treat excessive sleepiness. It is the R-enantiomer of modafinil and is believed to work by altering neurotransmitters in the brain. Armodafinil is known for its ability to improve wakefulness in patients with sleep disorders, making it a valuable medication for those suffering from narcolepsy, sleep apnea, and shift work sleep disorder. It is stimulant drug. Armodafinil is the R-enantiomer of modafinil which is a mixture of the R- and S-enantiomers.Obstructive sleep apnea/hypoapnea syndrome, narcolepsy, and shift work sleep disorder.
Oral; 150 or 250 mg every morning or 150mg daily one hour prior to the work shift.
Armodafinil is contraindicated in patients with: -Known hypersensitivity to armodafinil, modafinil, or any of the tablet's components. -History of left ventricular hypertrophy or mitral valve prolapse following previous administration of central nervous system stimulants.

Headache, nervousness, insomnia, agitation, confusion, personality disorders, tremor, anxiety; GI disturbances; hypertension, palpitations, techycardia; angioedema; psychosis, depression, mania, abnormal LFTs. Stevens-johnson syndrome, erythema multiforme, Toxic epidermal necrolysis.
Armodafinil can interact with several medications, including: -Hormonal contraceptives: May reduce their effectiveness. -CYP3A4 substrates: Armodafinil can induce the metabolism of drugs like cyclosporine and midazolam. -CYP2C19 substrates: It can inhibit the metabolism of drugs such as omeprazole and diazepam.
