FLAVOXATE HYDROCHLORIDE
Flavoxate Hydrochloride is a medication primarily used to relieve urinary tract symptoms such as painful urination, frequent urination, and urgency. It works by relaxing the muscles in the bladder. It counteracts smooth muscle spasm of the urinary tract and exerts its effect directly on the muscle.Symptomatic relief of dysuria, urgency,nocturia,suprapubic pain, frequency and incontinence as may occur in cystitis, prostatitis, urethritis, urethrocystitis/urethrotrigonitis.
The recommended dosage of Flavoxate Hydrochloride is typically 100-200 mg taken three to four times daily, preferably with meals or as directed by a healthcare professional.
Pyloric or duodenal obstruction, obstructive intestinal lesions or ileus, achalasia, gastrointestinal hemorrhage and obstructive uropathies of the lower urinary tract.
Drowsiness,blurred vision. Paediatrics: Not recommended in age below 12 year. Pregnancy: Should not be used. Lactation: Use with caution. Elderly: Increased risk of adverse effects.
Common side effects of Flavoxate Hydrochloride may include dry mouth, blurred vision, dizziness, drowsiness, nausea, constipation, and headache. Serious side effects such as an allergic reaction or difficulty breathing are rare but require immediate medical attention.
Flavoxate Hydrochloride may interact with other medications such as anticholinergic drugs, antidepressants, and antihistamines. Patients should inform their healthcare provider about all the medications they are taking, including prescription, over-the-counter, and herbal supplements.
