Influenza virus vaccine
The Influenza Virus Vaccine is a vaccine designed to protect against influenza (flu) caused by influenza viruses. It helps the immune system recognize and fight the influenza viruses, reducing the risk of illness and severe complications associated with the flu.-Prevention of influenza caused by influenza A and B viruses. -Recommended for individuals aged 6 months and older, including those at high risk of flu complications such as the elderly, children, pregnant women, and individuals with chronic health conditions.
-Adults and children over 9 years: 1 dose of 0.5 mL, administered intramuscularly. -Children aged 6 months to 8 years: 2 doses of 0.25 mL each, administered at least 4 weeks apart during the first year of vaccination. -For optimal protection, vaccination should be done annually, before the start of flu season.
-Severe allergic reaction (e.g., anaphylaxis) to any component of the vaccine or a previous dose. -Individuals with a history of Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS) within 6 weeks of a previous influenza vaccination.
-Use with caution in individuals with a history of egg allergy, as the vaccine is grown in eggs. -Not recommended for individuals with moderate or severe acute illness with fever. -Consult with a healthcare provider before administration if the individual is immunocompromised or has a history of chronic illness.
-Common: Soreness, redness, or swelling at the injection site, low-grade fever, headache, and fatigue. -Rare: Severe allergic reactions, including anaphylaxis, and Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS).
-Inform the healthcare provider of any other vaccines or medications being taken. -The influenza vaccine can be administered concurrently with other vaccines, such as pneumococcal vaccines, but should be administered at different injection sites.
