Tinocordin

Tinocordin

It exerts its action by promoting leucocytosis with predominant effect on neutrophils. It enhances phagocytic and intracellular killing capacity of macrophages and PMN's, stimulates release of cytokines like GM-CSF, IL1, IL2 and causes the proliferation of B-lymphocytes.

Indications

Adjuvant in chronic recurrent tonsillitis, peritonsillar abscess, chronic otitis media tuberculosis, chronic bronchitis, chronic recurrent allergic bronchial asthma, hepatitis B infections, cirrhosis of the liver, obstructive jaundice, peritonitis, post surgical abdominal infections in diabetes mellitus, burns, malicnancy and patients on cancer chemotherapy.


Dosage

-Adults: 500mg thrice daily for 2-4weeks. It may be given for upto 6 months in conditions like tuberculosis, malignancy and other recurrent infection. -Children : 100mg thrice daily.


Contra-Indications

-Hypersensitivity to Tinocordin or any of its components -Severe liver or kidney impairment -Pregnancy (unless clearly needed) -Breastfeeding (consult healthcare provider)


Special Precautions

-Monitor liver and kidney function regularly. -Use with caution in patients with a history of gastrointestinal disorders. -Not recommended for use in children without medical advice.


Side Effects

-Common: Nausea, headache, dizziness, rash. -Serious: Liver toxicity, severe allergic reactions, jaundice.


Drug Interactions

-Anticoagulants: May increase the risk of bleeding. -Antacids: Can reduce the absorption of Tinocordin. -Certain antibiotics: May interact and affect the efficacy of Tinocordin.
