Abiraterone

It is a CYP17 inhibitor indicated in combination with prednisone for the treatment of patients with metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer

Dosage

Oral; 1000mg once daily empty stomach along with prendisolone.

Contra-Indications

Pregnant female.

Special Precautions

Paediatric: Safety and efficacy below 18 year not yet established. Pregnancy: Category X. Lactation: Not indicated. Elderly: Safe to use.

Side Effects

High blood pressure (hypertension), low blood potassium levels (hypokalemia), and fluid retention (edema),Dizziness, Headache, Confusion, Muscle weakness, Pain and swelling in legs.

Drug Interactions

Along with CYP3A4 inducer, rifampicin.
