Abiraterone
Abiraterone is a medication used to treat prostate cancer. It works by inhibiting the production of androgens (male hormones), which are involved in the growth of prostate cancer cells.-Metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer (mCRPC) -Castration-sensitive prostate cancer in combination with prednisone or prednisolone
-Typically 1000 mg once daily, taken on an empty stomach. -The dosage may vary based on patient condition and treatment response.
-Hypersensitivity to abiraterone or any of its components. -Severe liver impairment (child-pugh class C).
-Monitor liver function regularly. -Avoid using in combination with strong CYP3A4 inducers. -Use with caution in patients with cardiovascular conditions.
-Fatigue -Hot flashes -Joint pain -Elevated liver enzymes -Hypertension -Adrenal insufficiency
-Avoid concomitant use with strong CYP3A4 inducers (e.g., rifampin, carbamazepine). -Caution with CYP3A4 inhibitors (e.g., ketoconazole, ritonavir).
