ACENOCOUMAROL
ACENOCOUMAROL is an anticoagulant used to prevent and treat thromboembolic disorders. It works by inhibiting vitamin K epoxide reductase, which is essential for the synthesis of clotting factors in the liver.-Prevention and treatment of deep vein thrombosis (DVT) -Prevention and treatment of pulmonary embolism (PE) -Prevention of stroke in patients with atrial fibrillation -Prevention of thromboembolism in patients undergoing orthopedic surgery
-Initial Dose: 2-5 mg per day, adjusted based on INR (International Normalized Ratio) monitoring. -Maintenance Dose: Typically 2-10 mg per day, adjusted according to INR levels.
-Active bleeding or bleeding disorders -Severe liver or kidney impairment -Pregnancy (except in certain conditions under strict medical supervision) -Recent or upcoming surgery
-Regular monitoring of INR is required to avoid bleeding complications. -Caution in patients with a history of gastrointestinal bleeding, peptic ulcers, or recent major surgery. -Adjust dosage carefully in the elderly and those with renal or hepatic impairment.
