Aclarubicin

It is an anthracycline drug, inhibit RNA synthesis, that is used in the treatment of cancer.

Indications

Malignant blood disorders.


Dosage

Intravenous, dose variable 25-300mg/m2.


Contra-Indications

Hypersensitivity.


Special Precautions

Pregnancy: Contraindicated. Lactation: Contraindicated.


Side Effects

Nausea, vomiting, mucositis, irritant to tissue, sore mouth, bone-marrow suppression, hyperuricaemia. Alopoecia, Cardiotoxicity (rare), myelosuppression in patients who received mitomycin or a nitrosourea, leucopenia.


Drug Interactions

Daunorubicin, cyclophosphamide, live vaccines, digoxin, oral anticoagulants, phenytoin and suxamethonium.
