Anantmool

Anantmool or Hemidesmus indicus is also known as Sariva in India. It possesses antioxidant, anti-diarrhoeal, anti-cancerous, cardioprotective, nephroprotective, anti-diabetics, anti-bacterial, anti-inflammatory, anti-venom, anti-angiogenic, anti-cancer, and anti-cataract activities. According to the Indian system of medicine, anantmool is used as a blood-purifying agent and helps to balance tridosha ( vata, pitta, and Kapha).

Indications

Asthma, fever, sore throat, cold and cough, atherosclerosis, cardiac arrest, diabetes, psoriasis, eczema, acne, ulcer, loss of appetite, indigestion, constipation, and digestive disorders.


Dosage

The average dose for anantmool powder is 1-3 grams in divided dose, for decoction is 14-18 ml after meal, and the average dose for syrup is 14-15 ml with water and lemon juice


Contra-Indications

Hypersensitivity reaction., severe kidney impairment


Special Precautions

It is recommended to consult a physician before using it during pregnancy and breastfeeding.


Side Effects

Abdominal discomfort, chest discomfort, difficulty in breathing.


Drug Interactions

Digoxin, lithium.
