It is commonly known as Kalmegh or bhuineem in India. Andragrapholide is the active constituent present in kalmegh.It has antithrombotic, antimalarial, antibiotic, anti-inflammatory, anti-allergic, hepatoprotective, analgesic, anticancer, neuroprotective, antioxidant, and gastroprotective activity. It boosts immunity, improves digestion, and helps in blood purification.

Indications

Cholera, cancer, ulcer, filaria, malaria, heart blockage, depression, headache, dizziness, jaundice, hepatitis, fatty liver, gallstone, nephritis, loss of appetite, rheumatoid arthritis, respiratory tract infections and skin issues.


Dosage

The recommended dose for kalmegh powder (churna) is 1- 3 grams two times a day. The standard dose for kalmegh juice is 12-15 ml.


Contra-Indications

It is contraindicated in Pregnancy and breastfeeding.


Side Effects

Drowsiness, dizziness, fatigue, hypersensitivity, infertility, and abortion.
