ATENOLOL WITH LOSARTAN

Atenolol and losartan are potent antihypertensive drugs. Atenolol belongs to a class of drugs known as beta blockers. Losartan drugs belong to the angiotensin receptor blockers (ARBs) class. This combination of drugs reduces the chance of severe heart-related conditions. -Atenolol: Atenolol is a beta-blocker that affects the heart and circulation. -Losartan: Losartan is an angiotensin II receptor antagonist that relaxes blood vessels.

Indications

-Atenolol: Used to treat hypertension, angina, and certain heart rhythm disorders. -Losartan: Used to treat hypertension, diabetic nephropathy, and to reduce the risk of stroke in patients with hypertension and left ventricular hypertrophy. -Hypertension, stroke, angina, and other heart conditions.

Dosage

-Dosage varies based on the specific condition being treated and individual patient factors. -Should be prescribed and adjusted by a healthcare professional.

Contra-Indications

Atenolol: -Allergy to atenolol or beta-blockers. -Heart block greater than first degree. Losartan: -Pregnancy (especially in the second and third trimesters). -Allergy to losartan or angiotensin II receptor antagonists. -Hepatic disorders, kidney diseases, hypotension, diabetes and angioedema.

Special Precautions

-Consult a Physician before using it during pregnancy and breastfeeding. Consuming alcohol while using atorvastatin and aspirin can cause chronic toxicity. It is not recommended for children below 6 years old. -Caution in patients with impaired liver or kidney function. -Regular monitoring of blood pressure and heart function. -Adjustments may be needed in patients with diabetes.

Side Effects

-Atenolol: Fatigue, dizziness, cold extremities, and bradycardia. -Losartan: Dizziness, hypotension, and increased blood potassium levels. -Decrease blood pressure, dizziness, vomiting, weakness, constipation, abdominal discomfort, headache, increased potassium levels in blood, numbness, and lightheadedness.

Drug Interactions

-Atenolol may interact with other antihypertensive medications. -Losartan may interact with potassium-sparing diuretics and nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). -Pin killers ( ibuprofen, aspirin), antihypertensive medicines ( ramipril, benazepril), muscle relaxants ( tizanidine), antiplatelet drugs (aspirin), antibiotics (trimethoprim), Diuretics (amiloride, spironolactone), and potassium supplement.
