AVOBENZONE

Avobenzone is a chemical compound used primarily in sunscreens for its ability to absorb the full spectrum of UVA rays, protecting the skin from ultraviolet (UV) radiation.

Indications

-Protection against UVA and UVB rays in sunscreens -Prevents sunburn and premature skin aging caused by sun exposure


Dosage

-Typically used in concentrations of 1-3% in sunscreens -Follow the application instructions provided with the specific sunscreen product


Contra-Indications

Known hypersensitivity or allergy to Avobenzone


Special Precautions

-For external use only -Avoid contact with eyes and mucous membranes -If irritation or rash occurs, discontinue use and consult a healthcare provider


Side Effects

Rash, skin redness, itching, swelling, dizziness, and difficulty in breathing.


Drug Interactions

Does not have any significant drug interaction. In some cases may interact with anaesthetic drugs ( benzocaine, tetracaine).
