Azelastine Hydrochloride

Azelastine is a potent, selective histamine-H1-receptor blocker. Besides its selective histamine-H1-antagonizing effect, azelastine inhibits the triggering of pathological reactions provoked by leukotrienes, calcium ions and PAF.

Indications

Symptomatic treatment of both seasonal allergic rhinitis (hay fever) and perennial allergic rhinitis.


Dosage

One puff (0.14mg) into each nostril twice daily.


Contra-Indications

hypersensitivity to azelastine hydrochloride, benzalkonium chloride.


Special Precautions

Paediatrics: Not recommended under 6 years of age. Pregnancy: Not Recommended. Lactation: Not Recommended.


Side Effects

Irritation of nasal mucosa, taste disturbances, nose bleeding.
