Balofloxacin

Indications

It is a quinolone antibiotic, prescribed for infective ophthalmitis and sinusitis, chronic bronchitis, acute exacerbation, community-acquired pneumonia, skin infections.

Dosage

Oral, 100-400mg twice or once a day.

Contra-Indications

Hypersensitivity, pregnant women and nursing mother, children and infants.

Special Precautions

Caution should be exercised in patients with history of nervousness, agitation, sleeplessness, anxiety, abnoral dreams, slow heart beat, heart attack, who are taking other medications and in elderly.

Side Effects

GI disturbances, peripheral neuropathy, sensitivity to light, dizziness, fever, abdominal pain, headache, epilepsy and super added fungal infection, irritation when applied locally.
