Benzydamine Hcl is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) used primarily as a topical treatment for inflammatory conditions of the mouth and throat.

Indications

-Relief of pain and inflammation associated with conditions like pharyngitis, tonsillitis, and sore throat. -Relief of pain and discomfort post-dental procedures.


Dosage

-For adults: Typically, 15 ml of mouthwash or gargle solution, used every 1.5 to 3 hours, as needed. -For children: Dosage should be adjusted according to age and weight, under medical supervision.


Contra-Indications

-Hypersensitivity to Benzydamine Hcl or other NSAIDs. -Patients with a history of bronchospasm or asthma induced by aspirin or other NSAIDs.


Special Precautions

-Use caution in patients with a history of peptic ulcer disease. -Avoid contact with eyes and mucous membranes.


Side Effects

-Common: Temporary numbness of the tongue or mouth, dry mouth. -Rare: Allergic reactions such as skin rash or itching.


Drug Interactions

-May interact with other NSAIDs, increasing the risk of adverse effects. -Caution advised when used concurrently with medications that affect blood clotting.
