Besifloxacin
-Besifloxacin is an ophthalmic fluoroquinolone antibiotic used to treat bacterial eye infections. It belongs to the class of drugs known as fluoroquinolones, which work by inhibiting bacterial DNA synthesis. -Besifloxacin ophthalmic suspension is a quinolone antimicrobial, used in eye infection.-Besifloxacin is indicated for the treatment of bacterial conjunctivitis, a common eye infection caused by susceptible strains of bacteria. -Ophthalmic bacterial infection indicated for the treatment of conjunctivitis caused by susceptible isolates of the following bacteria: Aerococcus viridans , CDC coryneform group G, Corynebacterium pseudodiphtheriticum, Corynebacterium striatum, Haemophilus influenzae, Moraxella catarrhalis, Moraxella lacunata, Pseudomonas aeruginosa , Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermidis, Staphylococcus hominis, Staphylococcus lugdunensis, Staphylococcus warneri, Streptococcus mitis group, Streptococcus oralis, Streptococcus pneumoniae, Streptococcus salivarius.
-The recommended dosage for besifloxacin is typically one drop in the affected eye(s) three times a day for seven days, or as directed by a healthcare professional. Follow the prescribed regimen and complete the full course of treatment. -Topical; 6mg/ml (0.6%) Instill one drop in the affected eye(s) 3 times a day, 4 to 12 hours apart for 7 days.
Besifloxacin is contraindicated in individuals with a known hypersensitivity to besifloxacin or any other components of the formulation.
-Contact lenses should be removed before instilling besifloxacin eye drops and may be reinserted 15 minutes after administration. -Avoid contaminating the applicator tip, as this may lead to infection. If there is no improvement in symptoms after a few days of treatment, consult a healthcare professional. -Paediatric: Safety and efficacy of in pediatric patients of less than 1 years have not been established.
