Bromfenac Sodium

A non-steroidal anti-inflammatory eye drop.

Indications

Prevention and treatment of post operative ocular inflammations and macular edema (cystoids macular edema) after cataract eye surgeries. To prevent intra-operative miosis during cataract eye surgeries. To reduce pain and discomfort after ocular surgeries. As adjunctive therapy in treatment of allergic conjunctivitis and anterior uveitis.


Dosage

One drop twice ad day starting 24 hours after cataract eye surgery.


Contra-Indications

Allergy or hypersensitivity to bromfenac sodium, sulfites, aspirin. NSAIDs, or a Phenyl acetic acid derivative.


Special Precautions

An eye wound or irritation, do not administer whie wearing contact lenses, asthma patients. Use with caution in pregnancy and lactation.


Side Effects

Eye irritation, burning, stinging, pain, itching, redness or swelling, unusal feeling in the eye, headache, vision changes, unusual bleeding or the eye especially after eye surgery. Interval of at list five minutes is needed before or after using other medicine.


Drug Interactions

Monitoring of dosage may be needed if one is taking anticoagulants, heparin, or corticosteroids.
