Calcium Lactate is a calcium supplement used to treat and prevent calcium deficiency. It helps in maintaining bone health and proper functioning of nerves and muscles.

Indications

-Calcium deficiency -Osteoporosis -Rickets -Osteomalacia -As an adjunct to vitamin D therapy


Dosage

-Adults: Typically 500-1000 mg daily, divided into 2-3 doses. -Children: Dosage should be adjusted based on age and needs, typically 250-500 mg daily.


Contra-Indications

-Hypercalcemia -Kidney stones -Severe renal impairment -Known hypersensitivity to calcium lactate or any of its components


Special Precautions

-Monitor calcium levels periodically. -Use with caution in patients with a history of renal stones. -Avoid high doses without medical supervision.


Side Effects

-Constipation -Nausea -Vomiting -Abdominal discomfort -Rarely, hypercalcemia


Drug Interactions

-May interfere with the absorption of certain medications, such as tetracycline antibiotics. -Concurrent use with thiazide diuretics may increase the risk of hypercalcemia.
