Follitropin Alpha

Follitropin Alpha is a recombinant follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) used in the treatment of infertility. It stimulates ovarian follicular growth in women who do not have primary ovarian failure.

Indications

Treatment of infertility in women due to anovulation (including polycystic ovary syndrome), inadequate pituitary gonadotropin secretion, and assisted reproductive techniques such as in vitro fertilization.


Dosage

The dosage regimen varies based on individual patient response and treatment protocol. Typically administered by subcutaneous injection.


Contra-Indications

Known hypersensitivity to Follitropin Alpha or any of its components. Ovarian cysts or enlargement not due to polycystic ovary syndrome.


Special Precautions

Monitoring of ovarian response through ultrasound and hormonal assessments is crucial to prevent ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS). Use caution in patients with a history of thromboembolic events or ovarian cysts.


Side Effects

Common side effects include ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome, abdominal pain, nausea, and headache. Less common but severe reactions may include thromboembolic events.

No significant drug interactions have been reported, but caution is advised when administering with other fertility medications.
