Ciclopirox Olamine

It is a broad spectrum antimycotic agent, effective against dermatophytes, yeasts, actinomycetes, moulds and other fungi. Drug has a broader spectrum of activity against bacteria compared to other antifungal drugs. The primary site of action of Ciclopirox olamine appears to be the cell membrane, where it causes leakage of potassium ions and other intracellular materials.

Indications

Dermatophytoses or candida skin infections. Vulvo vaginal candidiasis.


Dosage

Apply 2-3 times daily for 1-4 wks.


Contra-Indications

Not for ophthalmic use.


Side Effects

Irritation, redness, pain, burning or itching.
