CLINIDIUM BROMIDE

Clindidium Bromide is an anticholinergic medication used to treat gastrointestinal disorders such as irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and peptic ulcer disease. It works by relaxing the muscles of the gastrointestinal tract, reducing spasms and cramping.

Indications

-Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) -Peptic Ulcer Disease -Other gastrointestinal disorders involving muscle spasms


Dosage

-Adults: Typically, the dose is 1 to 2 mg taken orally three to four times a day before meals. The dosage may be adjusted based on patient response and tolerance. -Children: Dosage should be determined by a healthcare professional based on the child's condition and weight.


Contra-Indications

-Hypersensitivity to clindidium bromide or any component of the formulation -Glaucoma -Severe myasthenia gravis -Obstructive uropathy -Children under 6 years of age (use with caution and under medical supervision)


Special Precautions

-Use cautiously in patients with a history of cardiovascular disease. -Monitor for signs of urinary retention or difficulty in urination. -Patients with a history of gastrointestinal obstruction or reflux should be closely monitored.


Side Effects

-Dry mouth -Blurred vision -Constipation -Drowsiness -Dizziness -Urinary retention


Drug Interactions

-May interact with other anticholinergic drugs, leading to increased side effects. -Caution should be used when combined with other medications that affect the central nervous system, such as sedatives or alcohol. -May interact with drugs that affect gastrointestinal motility, such as prokinetic agents.
