Creosote

Creosote is a wood tar derivative obtained through the distillation of tar from beechwood or other woods. It has antiseptic, astringent, and preservative properties and has been used in various medicinal applications.

Indications

-Chronic bronchitis -Coughs associated with respiratory tract infections -Tuberculosis


Dosage

-Adults: 0.3-1 ml orally, diluted in water, 3 times daily. -Children: Doses should be adjusted according to age and body weight, and should be determined by a healthcare professional.


Contra-Indications

-Hypersensitivity to creosote or any component of the formulation -Severe liver or kidney impairment -Pregnancy and lactation


Special Precautions

-Use with caution in patients with gastrointestinal disorders -Avoid prolonged use due to the potential for toxicity -Monitor liver and kidney function during extended therapy
