DESVENLAFAXINE WITH CLONAZEPAM

Desvenlafaxine is a serotonin-norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor (SNRI) used to treat major depressive disorder. It works by increasing the levels of serotonin and norepinephrine in the brain. Clonazepam is a benzodiazepine that affects chemicals in the brain, helping to balance them. It has anticonvulsant, muscle relaxant, and anxiolytic properties.

Indications

-Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) -Epilepsy -Panic disorder -Certain movement disorders


Dosage

-Typical starting dose is 50 mg once daily, with or without food. The dosage may be adjusted based on individual response. -Dosage varies depending on the condition being treated. It is usually taken orally 2 or 3 times daily.


Contra-Indications

-Hypersensitivity to desvenlafaxine or its components -Concomitant use with or within 14 days of discontinuing an MAOI (Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitor) -Hypersensitivity to clonazepam or other benzodiazepines -Acute narrow-angle glaucoma


Special Precautions

-Suicidal thoughts and behaviors may occur in some patients, especially during the initial treatment period. -Monitor for serotonin syndrome, especially when used concomitantly with other serotonergic drugs. -Risk of dependence and withdrawal symptoms upon discontinuation -Caution in patients with a history of substance abuse


Side Effects

-Common side effects include nausea, headache, dizziness, insomnia, and sweating. Serious side effects may include serotonin syndrome, elevated blood pressure, and liver toxicity. -Common side effects include drowsiness, dizziness, and coordination problems. Serious side effects may include respiratory depression, and paradoxical reactions.


Drug Interactions

-Desvenlafaxine may interact with other drugs, including MAOIs, SSRIs, SNRIs, triptans, and certain antipsychotics. Inform your healthcare provider about all medications being taken. -Clonazepam may interact with other central nervous system depressants, including alcohol. It may also interact with certain anticonvulsants.
