Dexlansoprazole

It is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI).

Indications

Healing of all grades of erosive esophagitis(EE), Maintaining healing of EE and relief of heartburn, Treating heartburn associated with symptomatic non-erosive gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD).

Dosage

Oral; 30-60mg once a day.

Contra-Indications

Hypersensitivity.

Special Precautions

Paediatric: Safety and efficacy in less than 18 years not yet established. Pregnancy: Category B. Lactation:It is found in human milk, it should therefore not be administered during lactation, unless the benefit outweighs the risk. Elderly: Use with caution.

Side Effects

Diarrhea, stomach pain, nausea, common cold, vomiting, bone fracture, hypomagnesaemia, Cl. difficile associated infection, upper respiratory tract infection

Drug Interactions

Warfarin, clopidegrol.
