Desoximetasone

Desoximetasone is a topical steroid.

Indications

Inflammatory and pruritic manifestations of corticosteroid-responsive dermatoses.


Dosage

Topical; 0.05% cream, rub twice daily.


Contra-Indications

Hypersensitivity.


Special Precautions

Topical application may cause reversible hypothalamic pituitary adrenal suppression. Paediatric: Increased susceptibility in children is seen. Pregnancy: Category C. Lactation: Use with caution. Elderly: Data not sufficient.


Side Effects

Burning, itching, irritation, dryness, folliculitis, hypertrichosis, acneiform eruptions, hypopigmentation, perioral dermatitis, allergic contact dermatitis, maceration of the skin, secondary infection, skin atrophy, striae, and miliaria.
