Diphenhydramine Hcl
Diphenhydramine HCl is an antihistamine used to relieve symptoms of allergy, hay fever, and the common cold. These symptoms include rash, itching, watery eyes, itchy eyes/nose/throat, cough, runny nose, and sneezing. It is also used to prevent and treat nausea, vomiting, and dizziness caused by motion sickness, and to induce sleep.-Allergic reactions -Common cold symptoms -Motion sickness -Insomnia -Parkinsonian syndrome
-Adults and children over 12 years: 25-50 mg every 4-6 hours, not to exceed 300 mg/day. -Children 6 to 12 years: 12.5-25 mg every 4-6 hours, not to exceed 150 mg/day. -Children under 6 years: Use only under medical advice. -Insomnia: 50 mg taken 30 minutes before bedtime. -Motion Sickness: 25-50 mg taken 30 minutes before travel, then every 4-6 hours as needed.
-Hypersensitivity to diphenhydramine or any component of the formulation. -Neonates and premature infants. -Nursing mothers. -Use as a local anesthetic.
-Caution in patients with asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), increased intraocular pressure, hyperthyroidism, cardiovascular disease, hypertension, and in elderly patients. -Avoid alcohol and other CNS depressants. -May cause drowsiness; do not drive or operate machinery until you know how this drug affects you. -Pregnant women should use only if clearly needed and directed by a physician.

-Alcohol and other CNS depressants can enhance the sedative effects. -Monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) can prolong and intensify the anticholinergic and CNS depressant effects. -May interact with other antihistamines, benzodiazepines, opioids, and tricyclic antidepressants.
