Dutasteride
Dutasteride is a medication primarily used to treat benign prostatic hyperplasia (enlarged prostate). It works by inhibiting the conversion of testosterone to dihydrotestosterone (DHT), a hormone that contributes to prostate growth.-Treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) -Management of male pattern baldness (off-label use)
0.5 mg orally once a day
Hypersensitivity to dutastride and/or finasteride, liver disease or history of; prostate cancer.
Use only in men; should not donate blood while taking dutasteride and for 6-months after stop taking it, donot drink grape juice, swallow the capsule whole, do not split, chew or crush it, do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one. Paediatric : Keep out of reach of children. Pregnancy: Pregnant women should not handle dutasteride capsule, touching the contents of capsule may harm fetus.
Decrease in sex drive, difficulty ejaculating, breast tenderness or enlargement.
Nutritional supplements, herbal products,antifungal-Fluconazole, itraconazole and ketoconazole, cimetidine, ciprofloxacin, clarithromycin, cyclosporine, danazol, delavirdine, dilitazem, erythromycin, fluoxetine, fluvoxamine, protease inhibiotors - indinavir and ritonavir, isoniazid, metronidazole, nefazodone, troleandomycin, verapamil, and zafirlukast.
