ESCITALOPRAM OXALATE
Escitalopram Oxalate is a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) used to treat depression and anxiety disorders. It works by increasing the levels of serotonin in the brain, which helps improve mood and reduce anxiety.-Major Depressive Disorder (MDD) -Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD) -Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) -Panic Disorder -Social Anxiety Disorder
-Adults: Typically 10 mg once daily, which can be increased to 20 mg per day based on response and tolerability. -Elderly: Starting dose is usually 5 mg once daily, with possible gradual increase to 10 mg.
-Hypersensitivity to Escitalopram or any other SSRIs. -Concurrent use with monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs). -Use in patients with a history of bipolar disorder or manic episodes.
-Monitor for suicidal thoughts or behaviors, especially in young adults. -Caution in patients with a history of seizures. -Use with caution in patients with hepatic impairment. -Avoid abrupt discontinuation to prevent withdrawal symptoms.
-Common: Nausea, insomnia, fatigue, dizziness, dry mouth, increased sweating. -Serious: Serotonin syndrome, suicidal thoughts, seizures, severe allergic reactions.
