FERROUS BISGLYCINATE

Ferrous Bisglycinate is an iron supplement that provides iron in a highly absorbable and gentle form. It is used to treat or prevent iron deficiency anemia and to support overall iron levels in the body.

Indications

-Iron deficiency anemia -Increased iron needs during pregnancy and lactation -Chronic blood loss -Poor dietary intake of iron


Dosage

-Adults: Typically, 25-100 mg of elemental iron per day, as prescribed by a healthcare professional. -Children: Dosage should be determined by a healthcare professional based on age and weight.


Contra-Indications

-Hypersensitivity to ferrous bisglycinate or any of its components -Hemochromatosis or other iron overload disorders -Hemosiderosis


Special Precautions

-Monitor iron levels periodically to avoid iron overload. -Use with caution in patients with peptic ulcer, regional enteritis, or ulcerative colitis. -Keep out of reach of children to prevent accidental overdose.


Side Effects

-Gastrointestinal discomfort -Constipation -Diarrhea -Nausea


Drug Interactions

-Antacids and proton pump inhibitors can reduce iron absorption. -Tetracycline and quinolone antibiotics may have reduced absorption when taken with iron. -Iron can reduce the absorption of thyroid medications.
