Flurbiprofen Hydrochloride

Flurbiprofen Hydrochloride is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) used primarily for its anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and antipyretic effects. It is commonly prescribed for the management of conditions like arthritis, musculoskeletal pain, and other inflammatory disorders.

Indications

-Acute pain -Chronic pain -Rheumatoid arthritis -Osteoarthritis -Juvenile arthritis -Musculoskeletal disorders -Postoperative pain


Dosage

-Adults: 100-300 mg orally 3 times a day, depending on the severity of the condition. -Children: Dosage must be determined by a healthcare provider based on the child's condition and weight.


Contra-Indications

-Known hypersensitivity to Flurbiprofen or other NSAIDs -History of gastrointestinal bleeding or ulceration -Severe renal or hepatic impairment -Active bleeding disorders -Pregnancy (especially in the third trimester) -Severe heart failure


Special Precautions

-Use with caution in patients with a history of peptic ulcer disease or gastrointestinal bleeding. -Monitor renal and hepatic function regularly during prolonged therapy. -Caution in patients with cardiovascular disease or risk factors. -Avoid use in patients with uncontrolled hypertension.


Side Effects

-Common: Gastrointestinal discomfort, nausea, dyspepsia, headache, dizziness. -Serious: Gastrointestinal bleeding, renal impairment, hepatic dysfunction, allergic reactions, severe skin rash.


Drug Interactions

-May interact with anticoagulants, other NSAIDs, antihypertensives, and certain antidepressants. -Potentially reduces the effectiveness of antihypertensive drugs. -Risk of increased bleeding when used with anticoagulants.
