Gramicidin

Gramicidin is an antibiotic used to treat bacterial infections. It works by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, leading to the destruction of bacteria.

Indications

-Treatment of local infections (e.g., skin infections, eye infections, ear infections) -Topical use for wounds and ulcers -Sometimes used in combination with other antibiotics for enhanced effectiveness

Dosage

-Topical Use: Apply to the affected area 1-2 times daily, or as directed by a healthcare provider. -Eye/Ear Drops: Typically 1-2 drops in the affected eye/ear 2-4 times daily, depending on the severity of the infection.

Contra-Indications

-Hypersensitivity to gramicidin or any other ingredient in the formulation -Use in patients with a known history of allergic reactions to antibiotics

Special Precautions

-Use with caution in pregnant or breastfeeding women; consult a healthcare provider before use. -Avoid contact with eyes unless specifically formulated for ocular use. -Not recommended for use in deep or puncture wounds.
