HEPATITIS B SURFACE ANTIGEN PROTEIN

Hepatitis B Surface Antigen (HBsAg) is a protein found on the surface of the hepatitis B virus (HBV). Its presence in the blood indicates an active HBV infection. It is commonly used in diagnostic tests to determine the presence of hepatitis B infection.

Indications

Diagnostic Testing: HBsAg is not administered as a medication; it is measured in blood tests. The test is typically ordered by a healthcare provider based on symptoms, exposure risk, or routine screening.

Contra-Indications

Hypersensitive to any component of the vaccine, severe febrile infections.

Side Effects

As a diagnostic test, HBsAg testing does not have side effects.
