HIGHLY PURIFIED BROVIN PORCIN ISOPHANE INSULIN SUSPENSION
Highly Purified Brovin Porcin Isophane Insulin Suspension is an intermediate-acting insulin used to control high blood sugar in people with diabetes mellitus. It is derived from porcine (pig) insulin and is highly purified to reduce the risk of allergic reactions. The suspension provides a steady release of insulin to help manage blood sugar levels throughout the day.-Management of diabetes mellitus in patients requiring insulin therapy to maintain normal blood glucose levels. -Suitable for both type 1 and type 2 diabetes.
-Dosage should be individualized based on patient needs, blood glucose monitoring, and response to treatment. -Typically administered subcutaneously. -Common starting dose: 0.5 to 1 unit per kilogram of body weight per day, divided into two or more doses. -Adjustments should be made gradually to avoid hypo- or hyperglycemia.
-Hypersensitivity to porcine insulin or any component of the formulation. -Episodes of hypoglycemia (low blood sugar).
-Regular monitoring of blood glucose levels is essential. -Patients should be educated on recognizing signs of hypoglycemia and hyperglycemia. -Caution in patients with renal or hepatic impairment. -Adjustments in dosage may be necessary during periods of increased stress, illness, or changes in physical activity or diet.
-Hypoglycemia -Injection site reactions (redness, swelling, itching) -Lipodystrophy (localized fat atrophy or hypertrophy at the injection site) -Allergic reactions (rare but can include rash, shortness of breath, anaphylaxis) -Weight gain
-Other medications that can lower blood glucose levels (e.g., sulfonylureas, metformin) -Beta-blockers may mask symptoms of hypoglycemia. -Alcohol can potentiate the hypoglycemic effect. -Corticosteroids, diuretics, and other drugs may increase blood sugar levels, requiring adjustment of insulin dosage.
