HUMAN MENOPAUSAL GONADOTROPHIN
Human menopausal gonadotrophin (HMG) is a fertility medication composed of follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) and luteinizing hormone (LH), which are important for stimulating the ovaries and supporting reproductive processes. It is used primarily in fertility treatments such as in vitro fertilization (IVF) and assisted reproductive technology (ART) protocols to help regulate and promote ovulation.-Stimulating ovulation in women with anovulation or irregular cycles. -Enhancing follicular development in women undergoing assisted reproductive technologies (ART) like in vitro fertilization (IVF). -Increasing sperm production in men with certain fertility issues.
Dosage of HMG varies depending on the individual's needs, the specific fertility treatment being administered, and the clinical protocol. It is typically given as a subcutaneous or intramuscular injection. The dosage should be determined and monitored by a healthcare professional based on ovarian response, as assessed through ultrasound and hormone levels.
-Known hypersensitivity to the drug or any of its components. -Tumors of the ovary, breast, uterus, testis, pituitary gland, or hypothalamus. -Pregnancy or suspected pregnancy. -Primary ovarian failure. -Uncontrolled thyroid or adrenal dysfunction.
Patients with a history of pulmonary embolism or thromboembolic events. -Those with risk factors for thromboembolism. -Patients with cardiovascular, renal, hepatic, or respiratory disorders. -Monitoring for signs of ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS) during treatment.
Headache Nausea Abdominal pain Breast tenderness Injection site reactions (redness, pain)
HMG can potentially interact with other medications. Patients should inform their healthcare provider of all medications they are taking to avoid potential drug interactions.
